IN THIS PAPER I WANT TO DOCUMENT MY EXPERIENCE USING IBM's Websphere Message Broker v6. We looked at it as part of our exploration of technologies that would support an Enterprise Service Bus (ESB). For us, the idea behind an ESB is that it would give us a generic platform on which to provide basically any-to-any connectivity. What was driving us into the market for an ESB is that we faced an increasing demand to provide good uncomplicated connectivity. Interestingly our business adopted a system-wide approach to how they do business that basically eliminated silos. I don't know if any readers can appreciate the irony that business, not IT, has decided and taken dramatic steps to move away from a silo-based way of running things into a system- wide service. The rollout is over the next couple of years, and is well on the way now, and we were looking at an SOA/ESB architecture that would facilitate the business restructuring.
