Need a Program which returns size of VTOC.

I have written a system to assist in our Disaster Recovery efforts. One of the things the system does is build ICKDSF Init jobs for DASD at our "hot site". On volumes that are not being restored at the site, but the volumes need to be available (like DB2 volumes), I need to know the VTOC size. In a perfect world, this information should be available in the DCOLLECT Volume record, but, of course it isn't. Currently I am getting this information (in batch) by running ISPF's DSLIST. Does anyone know of a shareware program that by passing a single Volser, the VTOC size is returned to the caller? Would it be possible to get this information via a REXX program? Thanks.

Need a programm which returns size of VTOC

There used to be a program MAPVTOC on CBT which did supply that info. If you still need it, then you can contact me offline for a modified version of MAPVTOC and further infos (I would have to dig, but 2 years ago we had a backup system which evaluated VTOC-infos and created, for the backup site, complete ICKDSF control statements to re-init all volumes). Offline address gerald (dot) kaiser (at) ww-informatik.de

sources for possible solution...

I can't answer the question off the top of my head, but I know where there are people that can. The best place to find mainframe shareware will be the cbt-tape.  Check out

Can also post this question on IBM-MAIN

Or use the help boards on MVSHELP..
