WEBSPHERE APPLICATION SERVER (WAS) FOR Z/OS IS IBM'S PREMIER JAVA 2 Enterprise Edition (J2EE) and Web services application server for the mainframe. The latest version, 6.1, went General Availability on
6/30/06 and makes use of JDK 5.0 innovations, which introduce signifi cant improvements in programmer productivity, application portability and performance.
